Kirby Wins the Cutest Pet Contest; Sisal Rugs Win Over His Owner

Mirror, mirror on the wall, who’s the cutest of them all? At Sisal Rugs Direct, that’s Kirby the Rabbit, winner of our Cutest Pet Contest. However, his owner, Sheryl Madonna of La Canada Flintridge, Calif., insists that the photo she uploaded didn’t do him justice. “In the photo his ears were back and he was a little worried, so it really didn’t capture him,” she admits, probably because it took a half hour for Sheryl and her son to “corral and coerce” him.

Even though Kirby is camera-shy, Sheryl says “he’s just our love bug. He’s the most gentle rabbit we’ve ever met and he’s really very smart. He’s potty-trained and loves being around people. He’s really a great pet to have around and we love him.” Sheryl found Kirby two and a half years ago through the Pasadena Humane Society website. “We literally dropped everything and went over there because he was so cute. The weirdest thing is that his name came with him; when we saw him we were like, ‘But he is a Kirby!’”

Even though Kirby easily won her heart, she was surprised when she found out Kirby won the contest. “I’m thrilled Kirby won; we’ve been on cloud nine and now my husband says Kirby’s a star!” laughs Sheryl. Sheryl is looking forward to spending her prize – a $250 Sisal Rugs Direct gift certificate.
