Meet Deb, Your Go-to Designer
Here at Sisal Rugs, we are committed to satisfying our clients every need. And we back that up with superior service that keeps our valued customers coming back for more. One of those services is providing our customers with access to seasoned designers who can help find the perfect custom rug for both homes and corporate settings. In this post, we would like to introduce you to one of those designers: Deb.
Q. How did you get your start in design?
Deb: After attending college with a focus on business, I earned my degree in Interior Design. My first job was working for a design studio, where I became lead designer. I’ve now got 23 years of experience under my belt.
Q. How did you learn about Sisal Rugs Direct?
Deb: I first learned about Sisal Rugs Direct when the design studio I worked for out of college carried their products. Sisal Rugs was still a small company at that time.
Q. What is your specialty?
Deb: I have extensive experience with working with customers in their homes – from standard homes to executive-level homes – on everything from organization to full remodels. Since joining Sisal Rugs, I’ve also had the opportunity to work on coastal homes, helping customers prepare them for presentation online to be rented. I also seem to be the go-to resource for stairing. Most of my design knowledge is in flooring, so working at Sisal Rugs Direct is an excellent fit.
Q. What is a typical day like working with customers looking for home flooring?
Deb: My main title is Office Manager, but I work with customers on all types of projects and to address a range of needs and issues. Someone might call in a panic because a party guest spilled red wine on their rug. We send customers a care sheet for their rugs and include care instructions on our website, but when that glass of red wine spills, a customer is not thinking about those resources. It helps when there is a friendly voice on the other end of the phone telling them we can work through it together.
Other times customers may want advice on the best rug for their scenario, such as their highly trafficked kitchen or living room. When designing a custom rug, customers often send photos showing what they like or the décor they are trying to complement, and we look at flooring options to create custom rugs. While we offer binding, I also work with the material that our customers supply so it matches their décor.
Q. What is your experience with corporate customers?
Deb: I’ve worked with major retailers such as Vera Bradley and Lily Pulitzer, and hotels, especially those in the Caribbean. Sisal rugs are popular in the Caribbean but it’s difficult to get rugs finished there at a reasonable price. Recently a design event company hired us to create a large number of rugs for an Oscar de la Renta party.
Q. What do you feel sets Sisal Rugs Direct apart?
Deb: I believe it’s a combination of the level of service and our direct interactions with customers to ensure we are meeting their needs. We are attentive to our customers and committed to providing them with the perfect rug. That translates into great relationships that encourage customers to return.
One example is when I was working with a customer and her husband to help them find flooring for their new executive-style home. We got the opportunity to meet in person while they were visiting family in Minnesota. Working together we created custom flooring that met their needs. Since then, she brought us in to help her daughter figure out the best flooring for her new home with her husband and children.
