Yes, we love our movie stars. But movies aren’t just about the actors! Props, locations, and set designs can also find a permanent place in pop culture. There are even a few cinematic rugs that have reached icon status. Whether you’re a rug fan or a movie fan, we’ve put together some of the most memorable rugs Hollywood has ever seen.

The Money Pit

We’ve all used a rug to cover up an imperfection, but in The Money Pit, Tom Hanks and Shelley Long take it to the next level. This movie depicts every homeowner's worst nightmare: a newly purchased house that is completely falling apart, including a massive rug-covered hole in the floor. Tom Hanks falls in, of course, and the rest is cinematic rug history.

The Big Lebowski

Movie fans learn just how important a rug can be in this iconic Coen Brothers flick. The film’s main character, Jeffrey Lebowski—a.k.a. the Dude—has one stolen from him right off the bat. The pursuit of reclaiming his beloved rug sends him down an unexpected journey, to say the least. And who can blame him? As the Dude so eloquently puts it, “It really tied the room together.”

Aladdin

The rug in this Disney classic flies to heroic heights. No, really! In this animated film, Aladdin’s magic carpet saves the titular character’s life. That’s not your everyday rug! In fact, it can soar through the sky and even proves to be quite the comedian. Rug fans have to admit they wish they had a rug like this to take them to a whole new world.

The Machinist

This psychological thriller follows a machinist, Trevor Reznik (played by Christian Bale), who is plagued by insomnia. Lack of sleep affects his physical and mental health, leading him and movie fans to question what is real and what is an illusion. At one point, a rug comes in handy to dispose of something—only for us to find out things may not be what they seem.

Pink Panther

This 1963 comedy is full of hijinks as inspector Jacques Clouseau (Peter Sellers) tries to hunt down a famous jewel thief, The Phantom. While precious gemstones take center stage, rug fans will note a special scene with Claudia Cardinale as Princess Dala. Draped over a tiger skin rug, it's a rug moment not many movie fans can forget!

Oscar Worthy

We think all of these rugs deserve a round of applause! Movie fans and rug fans alike can appreciate their contributions to the cinema landscape. While there is no Academy Award for Best Rug (yet), we still get pretty star struck by our wide selection of rugs. Be sure to check them out and order a custom-size rug today!
