We offer many different binding options for your natural fiber rug. We recommend the Narrow Cotton Binding for all the weaves and it is standard on all weaves. Swatches of all bindings are available. When you see "Designers Choice" after a binding color, that is the best matching color for the rug you have chosen.

The Cotton bindings come in 44 colors to match any color scheme. These Cotton bindings come in three widths:Narrow, Wide and Extra Wide. The Narrow Cotton Binding is Top-Stitched and shows 3/4" on the face of the rug with lapped corners. The Wide Cotton Binding is Top-Stitched and shows 1 1/4" on the face of the rug and has top-stitched mitered corners. The Extra Wide Cotton binding can be Top-Stitched, showing 2 1/4" on the face of the rug or Blind-Stitched, showing up to 3 " on the face of the rug. Blind-Stitching is an additional charge and means that the stitching is not visible and includes blind-stitched mitered corners. Back to Top ^

Serging

Outdoor Binding
The Outdoor Binding is UV stabilized, water resistant material made to withstand outdoor elements. The Outdoor Binding is Top Stitched showing 1" on the face of the rug with Lapped Corners.

Blind Stitching
Blind Stitching refers to the appearance and sewing of the binding. Blind Stitching means that the stitching (thread) on the top of the binding is hidden. The stitching on both the sides and the mitered corners is hidden. All corners are mitered (finished at an angle-see photo) unless you request a lapped corner. Blind stitching is standard on Leather and Tapestry bindings. It is available as an option for an additional cost on Extra Wide Canvas, Extra Wide Designer Cotton, Linen and Faux Leather bindings. Top Stitching
Top Stitching refers to the appearance and sewing of the binding. Top Stitching means that the stitching (thread) is on the top of the binding. We match the color of the thread to the binding, so it blends with the binding. The mitered corners of the binding on your area rug are mitered which means they are finished at an angle and top stitched (see photo). C.O.M. Binding (Customer's Own Material)
Provide your own fabric! Our customer's own material (C.O.M) program is very popular and this option has worked well for our customers! Heres how it works: You find the fabric at a local fabric store (or online), buy it, and ship it to us to use in the manufacturing of your rug. We will offer you a quote for applying your fabric on your rug. We'll also tell you how many yards of fabric to buy for the rug you want.
If you are considering using the C.O.M. program, please call us at 1-888-613-1335 or email us at sales@sisalrugs.com for details such as fabric yardage and information that needs to be included with your fabric shipment. Our C.O.M. program has some additional terms to consider:
